Mother, Author, Speaker, Podcaster
Many years ago, one of my most cherished professors planted an idea within. He predicted a future in which I would dedicate myself to sharing science-based research on child development with parents worldwide. At that time, the concept of blogs and podcasts had yet to take hold, but I held onto his vision.
After earning my Ph.D., I made the decision to step away from the academic world to become a stay-at-home mom. However, my heart remained that of a scholar. As a mother raising four children, I frequently found myself delving into research to navigate the intricacies of family life. Having seen firsthand the benefits, I now strive to assist families in integrating the wealth of knowledge from developmental science and the Catholic faith, with their own unique parenting styles.
Having been raised Protestant, my conversion to the Catholic Faith in 2006 opened up a new dimension for me. It allowed me to embrace the Church’s timeless wisdom concerning authentic femininity. Recognizing that a woman’s identity as a daughter of God forms the foundation of personal wholeness and effective parenting, I’ve become deeply committed to strengthening this core identity.
Today, I find myself at the vital intersection of faith and science, harmoniously blending both in the way that God intended. My latest book, “Daughter by Design,” focuses on the unique identity of Catholic women and serves as a practical guide, combining these fields in a meaningful manner.
Through my blog and my podcast, “Parenting Smarts,” I provide valuable, free resources to families across the globe. Additionally, I regularly contribute to Spiritualdirection.com and Blessed is She’s books and devotionals. Now that my children are older, I relish the opportunity to address groups throughout the country, which feels remarkably reminiscent of my university classroom days.
As a lifelong resident of Arizona, I reside here with my husband and four children, who continue to provide me with practical experiences that complement the theory and research underpinning my work. When I’m not deeply engrossed in writing, speaking engagements, or tending to my family, you might find me savoring a cup of coffee with some piece of historical fiction in hand or plotting my next exciting travel adventure.
