Author, Speaker, Podcaster, Mother
Mary Ruth Hackett isn’t just an author, speaker and podcaster. She also is a mother of four with a PhD in Educational Psychology with a concentration on Lifespan development. Her interest in helping parents and families integrate the best of science, the depths of the Catholic faith, and the uniqueness of their individual gifts and parenting styles led to the blog Parenting With Peer Review, the popular Parenting Smarts Podcast, and opportunities to speak on parenting and family life to groups around the country.
Raised Protestant, her conversion to the Catholic Faith in 2006 allowed Mary Ruth to further embrace the Church’s timeless wisdom around authentic femininity. As the key to both personal wholeness and effective parenting, she has come to appreciate the need to strengthen a woman’s identity as daughter of God before anything else.
A regular contributor to Spiritualdirection.com and Blessed is She’s books and devotionals, Mary Ruth writes and teaches at the important intersection of faith and science, blending them both in the original harmony God intended.
Mary Ruth is a lifetime resident of Arizona where she lives with her husband and four children–all of whom provide plenty of practical experience to complement the theory and research that informs her work. When she’s not writing, speaking, or wrangling children, you might find her enjoying a cup of coffee and some historical fiction or mapping out her next traveling adventure.
